Additional new features for narrow web are larger 14in input and output roll capabilities for longer unattended operation, and continuous cutting to provide a smoother slit before the rewind. Due to fewer moving parts, the reliability has increased as well.
The vacuum, assisted by its ‘digital eyes’ creates a smoother, faster transport mechanism. Rather than relying on gravity or mechanically assisted accumulators, the media rides along a ‘pillow of air’, its motion constantly monitored by an array of LEDs and sensors. It does so by using a unique vacuum accumulator technology. The narrow format (up to 21.5cm/8.5in) finisher can laminate, cut without the need for dies, strip, slit, and rewind labels at speeds of 9.1 m/min (30 feet/min.). The speed of the new ADSI iTech AXXIS XL digital label printer matches that of the company's wider digital label finisher, the iTech Centra HS.
